Our HISTORY
1947
On June 10, 1947 God led a small group of like-minded believers to start a new Church in the Dixiana area. Beginning with a tent revival at a spot near the present Church site, God brought Dixiana Baptist Church into existence. Names appearing as charter members in the proceedings of the early Church include those of Gaskins, Howell, Lee, Raines, Platt, Spires, and Vining. There were 20 charter members and Rev. M.E. Kyzer was called to become the first pastor. A building was soon erected and is still in use today as a fellowship hall and classrooms.
1997
Pastor Chris Platt was ordained in 1997 as Associate Pastor. He also faithfully served as the Youth Pastor until 2001, when the church called him to become Senior Pastor. During his early years of ministry, he completed a B.A. in Pastoral Ministries and later earned a Master of Divinity from Columbia International University. The Lord has blessed Pastor Chris's ministry at Dixiana. Under his leadership, the church has grown steadily, reaching families throughout the community with the gospel and the love of Christ.
2023
God is continuing to show His grace and favor on Dixiana. We are excited to join Him in His wonderful work in the years to come.
